Why Is Our Approach Different?

At Pacific Total Body Wellness, we believe that muscles move bones and we put an emphasis on this by delivering a unique approach that is very unconventional for a chiropractic office. We use an approach that entails physio-therapy modalities (Ultra-Sound, Sinewave, Rapid Release Therapy, Flexion Distraction and Spinal Decompression) in combination with Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Active Release and Graston Technique. These modalities are used to set up the patient for the best possible chiropractic adjustment that we can deliver. So as a TEAM we can give the patient the best possible chance at obtaining their health goals through our unique treatments.

  • Neck pain: Neck pain can arise from various underlying causes, such as poor posture, muscle strains, tension, herniated discs, or whiplash. A thorough examination helps pinpoint the exact issue. Treatment may include spinal adjustments, massage therapy, cervical decompression, and for acute cases, we utilize Ultrasound/Sinewave therapy
  • Low back pain: Whether it’s the result of a recent injury or an ongoing issue, low back pain can stem from numerous factors. Depending on the cause, treatments may include therapeutic massage, spinal adjustments, lumbar decompression, and electrical stimulation (for acute pain).
  • Headaches: Often, headaches are caused by misalignment in the "headache bone" (C1-C2), which can press against the spinal nerve, triggering the headache. A chiropractic adjustment of the "headache bone" often resolves this. It’s also important to consider factors like stress, dehydration, or muscle tension as potential causes. In some cases, high blood pressure may contribute to headaches, so it's wise to monitor your blood pressure and consult with your healthcare provider.
  • Herniated/Bulging disc: Herniated and bulging discs are common but often go undiagnosed for years. While the body’s spinal discs have some ability to heal themselves, that’s not always the case. An MRI or X-ray can help assess the severity of the condition. Treatment options may range from spinal decompression to surgery for more severe cases.
  • Muscle issues: Muscles act as the body’s first line of defense against injuries, experiencing daily trauma regardless of activity level. Muscle tightness is the most common issue, often treatable with therapeutic massage. For more severe problems like inflammation and tenderness, treatments such as electrical stimulation may be necessary.
  • Hip issues: Hip problems are especially common among pregnant women and seniors. Whether it's a chronic issue or a recent injury, treatment is tailored to each patient. Chronic hip pain may also be linked to issues like lack of arch support or foot pronation, and vice versa.
  • Post-Auto Accident: Auto accidents can cause physical stress and affect your overall health. Following a detailed exam, consultation, and imaging, we customize treatments to meet the specific needs of each patient.
  • Pre/Postnatal: Chiropractic care for both prenatal and postnatal wellness is a safe, natural, and effective way to support the body through the changes of pregnancy and recovery after childbirth. It helps ensure that the mother’s body is properly aligned, which promotes a healthier and more comfortable experience for both mother and baby.
  • Spinal Decompression: This treatment helps alleviate pressure on the spine, particularly the discs. It is often recommended for patients experiencing neck and lower back (L5-S1) issues. During treatment, the patient is gently stretched on a decompression table, which creates negative pressure within the discs. This allows for increased blood flow and nutrient delivery to the affected area, promoting relief.
  • Therapeutic Massage Therapy: Dr. Stately emphasizes that muscles play a key role in moving bones. If the muscles aren't functioning correctly, the spine and joints can be affected. We use massage techniques for therapeutic purposes, including Trigger Point, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Sports Massage, and Pre and Postnatal. Not all massage therapists specialize in every technique, so it’s best to inquire in advance.
  • Therapeutic Ultrasound/Sinewave: This non-invasive treatment uses low-frequency sound waves to create muscle contractions when the probe touches the skin. These contractions raise the temperature of the targeted tissue, which enhances blood flow and nutrient delivery, aiding the healing process. It is typically used for acute injuries.
  • Electrical Stimulation: In this therapy, electrical impulses are delivered to the affected muscle or tissue, helping with tissue repair and preventing muscle atrophy (wasting) after injury. It is commonly used for acute injuries.
  • Graston Technique (Gua Sha scraping): This technique uses a specialized tool to break down scar tissue, which promotes healing and improves mobility in the affected area.
  • Activated Release Therapy (ART): ART is a hands-on technique where the Dr./Therapist manually stretches an affected area, releasing muscles, fascia, ligaments, and tendons that are not functioning properly.
  • Orthotics (Foot Levelers): Using high-tech 3D scanning technology, we assess the condition of the arches in your feet, including the presence of any pronation. Based on the scan results, Foot Levelers recommends the most suitable orthotics to address your specific foot structure and needs.
  • Rapid Release Therapy: RRT utilizes a high-vibration massage gun to deeply penetrate muscle and tissue. This not only helps relax the muscles but also breaks down scar tissue, making it a patient favorite in our office.
  • Shockwave (coming soon): This advanced modality, popular in Europe and Canada for over 30 years and FDA-approved in the US, delivers strong energy pulses deep into damaged soft tissue. The pulses create microtrauma, essentially triggering your body’s natural healing process for accelerated recovery.

Why do I need chiropractic care when I’m not in pain?

Even if you're not experiencing pain, there are numerous benefits to seeing a chiropractor. Chiropractors can adjust the spine to enhance the nervous system. When the nervous system is functioning at its best, it can more efficiently regulate and support the body and all its functions. Many patients opt for chiropractic care as a preventive measure, ensuring that when an injury or pain does arise, their body will respond more effectively to treatment.

At Pacific Total Body Wellness, we believe that patient education is essential for maximizing the benefits of chiropractic care.
